Becky Ruth Bell-Thompson was born on February 6th, 1945 in Bristow, OK, the daughter of Robert Austin and Bessie Elizabeth (Heneha) Bell. She was raised with two brothers and two sisters, Cora Elizabeth, Ramona, Charles and George. Upon graduating from high school in Okmulgee, OK, she began her college studies at NSU and also at Oklahoma City University, studying English and Christian Ministries. She worked tirelessly for the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, sharing her knowledge and helping those that needed her. On January 28th, 1967, she married Johnnie Thompson in Okmulgee, OK. This union was blessed with three wonderful children and 54 years of happy memories, laughter, tears and fun. She was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. When she wasn’t working, she was home reading a good book or her Bible, doing puzzles, volunteering for church and many organizations that used her many ideas, and planning how to better serve the youth of the church. She was a talented seamstress that could sew just about anything, and she could play a piano with the best of them. She loved traveling with Johnnie and went from Australia to Puerto Rico and home again. She could scout out a bargain at the thrift stores better than most. She loved people and loved to hear them laugh, her sense of humor was fantastic. Becky had no problem expressing her mind, and did do frequently. She labored tirelessly for the Lord at Tulsa Indian United Methodist Church, held leadership in the OIMC, and never tired of her work with the United Methodist Women. Her beloved Johnnie died in 2020, and Becky found herself closer to her family, spending time with those she loved. The Lord called this wonderful servant, mother, friend, and grandmother home from her many labors on August 5th, 2021 after reaching the age of 76 years, five months and thirty days. She leaves a legacy of services to God and her fellow human beings that will live on after her.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mitchell and Martha (Harjo) Heneha, her paternal grandparents, Jasper and Ruth (Anderson) Bell, her mother and father, her sister Cora Record and her favorite fur baby, Otis.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Melissa Coach and husband Robert “Travis” of Galena, KS, Timothy Thompson of Tulsa, OK, and Leandra Lewis and husband Freddie of Moore, OK. She leaves her sister, Ramona Tanner of Tulsa, OK, brothers, Charles Bell and wife Mary of Tulsa, OK, and George Bell of Okmulgee, OK and brother-in-law, Bill Record of Okmulgee, OK. Becky’s service and love live on in her five grandchildren, Ryan Bell and wife Deidre of Tulsa, OK, Jordan Tuttle and wife Ashlynn of Sapulpa, OK, Hope Tuttle of Bristow, OK, Bailey Thompson of Sapulpa, OK and Cara Mae Lewis of Moore, OK.
