Born January, 30th 1949 to Arthur and Zilpha Ackerman in Miami, Oklahoma. Growing up she lived in Missouri and Oklahoma. Jane graduated from Lathrop High School, Lathrop MO as a Valedictorian. After high school she graduated from University of Missouri Kansas City music school with honors.
Jane always made sure the Ackerman household was well stocked with musical instruments. She had a piano, an organ, three guitars, a ukulele, an upright base violin, and an accordion. All of which she played at an advanced level. And, don’t forget the boxes of sheet music. Her final years took away her playing talent, but she could still listen to a song and still tell you what key it was being played in.
After a few years Jane entered Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. She was conferred the Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She graduated cum laude in a class of 104. She was a featured soloist in the graduation exercises. While a student at Palmer she was named to Who’s Who among America’s Universities and Colleges and also to America’s Outstanding Young Women.
Jane operated a successful chiropractic office in Hot Springs, AR several years before becoming ill. In 1985 she moved back to Missouri to live with her parents for fifteen years. After her care required skilled nursing she lived at a critical care facility in St. Joseph, MO for another seventeen years.
Although Jane’s health was problematic she never complained and was always joyful and happy to visit with others and quick to tell her family and friends “I love you.” With one final breath our beloved sister passed away at 9:15PM on May, 31st 2018. We will miss you, but release you into heaven where you richly deserve to be.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at 11:00am at Proctor Cemetery in Proctor, OK with Reverend Audie Vaughn officiating. Funeral services have been entrusted to Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah, OK.
