WALTER TRAVIS MUMME of Taft, Texas passed away on September 25, 2018. He was 84 years old. Walter was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 11, 1933 to Walter Julius Mumme and Tommie Clay Mumme. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1950 and from St. Mary’s University in 1954 with BBA degree. Travis and Joanne Putnam were married on August 30, 1952. He entered the army as a Lt in the Artillery and a Missile Battalion from 1954-1957. When he was discharged, he returned to San Antonio and went to work for International Harvester for 50 years. Travis also co-owned and managed a dealership in Taft called San Patricio Truck & Tractor. He was President of Kiwanis Club of Taft, President of Taft Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Taft School Board, and also Deacon & Teacher of the Men’s class at First Baptist Church of Taft. Travis loved Greyhound sports, fishing, hunting, and raising cattle with his brother, friends, and family.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Harold Clay Mumme. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Mumme; his three daughters, Donna Lynn (Barry) Terpening; Diane O’Neil, and Delisa Jo (Bob) Fredrickson; Three Granddaughters: Dolly Lynn (Joe) Saldana, Bonnie Rose O’Neil & Molly O’Neil (Zack) Prager; three great Grandchildren: Daniel Saldana, Aaron Saldana, and Jina Saldana.
Viewing will be from 5-8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home in Taft on Monday, October 1, 2018. Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio, Texas.
Bill Kinnison, Bob Fredrickson, Barry Terpening, Rick Temple, Jeff Mumme, Joe Daniel Saldana, Daniel Saldana, and Aaron Saldana will serve as pallbearers.
