Rufina “Fina” Hernandez passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the age of 84. She was born on October 24, 1927, in Beeville, Texas, to Rufino and Maria Sauceda. Growing up, she was a trail blazer. She helped her father drive tractors out in the fields and her husband with the grain trucks. Fina worked at making her house a home. She also loved gardening and working in her yard. She enjoyed spending the day shopping, baking and family holidays. Fina’s legacy lives on through her children: faith, religion, love for God, family unity and a love of gardening. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of fifty years, Natividad F. Hernandez; her parents; four sisters: Mercedes Bernal, Timotea Garcia, Maria Castillo and Carlota Sauceda; and one brother, Rufino Sauceda, Jr. Fina leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Ms. Maria dela Luz Hernandez, Attorney at Law, of Houston, Texas, Mr. Jose Hernandez and wife, Mary, of Homestead, Florida, Mr. Jesus Hernandez and wife, Norma, of Taft, Texas, Mrs. Juanita Saldivar and husband, George of Taft, Mrs. Esmeralda Delias and husband, Curtis, of Talbott, Tennessee, Mr. Aurelio Hernandez and wife, Margie, of Taft, Mr. Gilberto Hernandez and wife, Alicia, of Taft, Mrs. Teresa Tijerina and husband, Francisco of Houston, and Mrs. Patricia Lopez and husband, Saul, of Taft; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at The Palms Memorial Gardens.
