Richard R. Lopez passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the age of 86. He was a former resident of Taft, Texas, but spent the last several years living in Woodsboro, Texas. Richard was born January 2, 1928, in Dilley, Texas, to Gregorio and Marcelina Lopez. He was a farmer in the area and had also farmed sugar cane in Florida. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Alisia Lopez. He is survived by his daughter, Noemi Flores (Jesus O. Garcia) of Woodsboro; sons, Ramiro (Maria) Rodriguez of Woodsboro and Richard Lopez, Jr. of Alice, Texas; sister, Maria (Juan) Garcia of Belle Glade, Florida; brother, Domingo (Christina) Lopez of San Antonio, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 16, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Taft. Interment of cremains will be at a later date at Taft Memorial Park. Serving as pall bears are Ryan Rodriguez, Victor Flores, Andy Flores, Jr., Frankie Flores, Jr., Jesus O. Garcia, Jr. and Carlos Deases.
