Pauline was the youngest of five children, two brothers and three sisters. She was married to the love of her life, Charles E. Baker who is also the youngest of 6 children, 2 sisters and four brothers. They met at Walgreens, where she was working, in her hometown and he was stationed in the Air Force. It was love at first sight. When they would tell us the story of how they met she said she turned to her friend and said, “I’m going to marry that man some day”. They met on New Years Eve, and she insisted that he come to the club with her that night and take care of her. Little did he know it would be for the next 65 years. And aren’t we glad he did. After a short courtship they were happily married on February 28th, 1953. They eventually moved to Taft, Tx, where they settled down and had three children. Pauline was active in her community and was a member of Baptist Church in Taft.
She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Baker; her brother, Haywood; three children, Charles E. Baker (Eddie), Gary W. Baker, and Kathi A. Harris; seven grandchildren, who knew her as Momo, Chuck Baker, Jessica VIllanueva, Katie Baker, Megan Mullins, Chelsea Long, Kelsey Collins, and Kevin Harris. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
We will be holding services at Colonial Funeral home in Taft, TX on Monday May 21st, 2018 at 11A.M. Burial services to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00. For anyone who had the chance to know Pauline, we would love to extend a warm welcome to help celebrate her life and reminisce on her memories.
