William Hnatko, Sr., 88, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at Veterans Medical Center. A life resident of Syracuse, William retired as a baker for Millbrook Bakery after 25 years. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Hnatko served his country during WWII stationed at Pearl Harbor.
He is survived by his longtime companion of 40 years, Marge Putzer; ten daughters, Marie (Bill) Woods of AZ, Helen (Clifford) Newport of Camillus, Judy (John) Neri of Syracuse, Donna (Ron) Sariano of Cicero, Margaret (John) Sansone of NH, Anne (Ron) Maloof, Patricia Putzer, Debra (Tony) DeLorenzo, Roxanne (Bill) Woolman, and Faith Rudolph, all of Syracuse; three sons, Stephen Hnatko of AZ, William (Wendy) Hnatko of Solvay and Carl (Diane) Putzer of Cicero; brother, John Hnatko of North Syracuse; sister-in-law, Stephanie Hnatko of East Syracuse; 38 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 8:30 A.M. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
