Salvatore Panetta, 83, of DeWitt passed away Saturday at the Francis House. He was born in Mammola, Italy and has been a resident of the Syracuse area for 66 years. He was a former employee of Wells & Coverly and Learbury’s as a tailor and fitter of fine clothing. Salvatore also was owner and operator of Fashion Girl Coiffeurs for many years. He enjoyed listening to Opera music and reading. He was a communicant of All Saints Church and a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War with the 5thRCT 2nd Division.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Josephine Sbardella Panetta; daughter, Sandra Panetta of Washington, D.C.; sons, Joseph (Karin) Panetta of San Diego, CA, Carlo (Cathy) Panetta of Chittenango and Dr.Stephen (Kathleen) Panetta of Rochester, MN; sister, Rose (Frank) Mariano of Solvay; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 1340 Lancanster Ave., Syracuse. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
