Mary J. Fitzgerald, of North Syracuse, passed away Thursday at Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of William & Della Appel, and lived here all of her adult life. She was employed as a legal secretary at the Mackenzie Law Firm for many years, and then worked at the courthouse as secretary to Supreme Court Administrative Judge William Roy for 25 years. Mary enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and occasional trips to the casino. She was loved by everyone and was known for her kind disposition and love for animals. She will be greatly missed. Mary was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Robert M. Fitzgerald; her sister, Frances Dodge; and her brother, Carl Appel.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Paul) Strader of Cicero; son, Kenneth (Diane) Fitzgerald of Fort Myers, FL; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Syracuse Home for their outstanding care and compassion.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 9 A.M. at PIRRO & SONS FUNERAL HOME and 10 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
