Louis J. Cafferelli, 88, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday at James Square. Born in Syracuse, Louis was a cab driver with Ace Cab and then became an insurance agent and retired from Mutual Omaha after many years of service. He was a volunteer with Bishop Grimes participating in bingo, the booster club and the parents club. He also help build Bishop Grimes very first concession stand “Louie’s Pit”. Louis was a Eucharistic Minister with Our Lady of Pompei Church and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Antoniette, his son, Anthony R. Cafferelli Sr., siblings, Mary Fazzolari and Albert Cafferelli.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maria; his daughter, Josephine (Eric) Olsen of Binghamton; sister, Angeline ‘Angie” Laneve of Syracuse; brother, Philip Anthony Marches of Syracuse; grandchildren, Anthony (Holly) and Joseph Cafferelli , Brian, Kaitlyn and Robert Olsen; and step granddaughters, Danielle Cummings and Elizabeth Telford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday 9:15 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 -7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bishop Grimes or Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church Church.
