Jerry Russo, 55 of Grand Island, New York, passed away suddenly at his home Sunday morning. Jerry was born on September 8, 1956 in Caivano, Italy and came to live in the United States after the death of his mother, Anna. He settled with his family in Liverpool, NY where he graduated from Liverpool High School in 1976. Jerry worked at Syracuse China as well as Hughes Aircraft in California before going to work at GM Powertrain in Tonawanda, NY, where he was employed for over 28 years. A dedicated family man, fun-loving and thoughtful, Jerry was an avid sportsman, gun collector as well as a proud member of the NRA. In his spare time he could be found with his family, enjoying a ride on his motorcycle, or in the company of his beloved dogs, Rex and Mickey. His kind nature and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Anna Schiancata Russo and Isacco Russo; step-mother, Margaret Tassone-Russo; step-brother, Sam Tassone; nephew, Issaco Russo; and niece, Anna Young.
He is survived by his wife, Anna (D’Elia) of Trento, Italy; his children, Stephanie, Anna, and Anthony, all of Grand Island, NY; grandchildren, Aaliyah Russo and Italyah Shazers; brothers and sisters, Antonio (Guiseppina), Carmine (Melina), Raffaella (Sossio) Mazzarella, and Fortunato, all of Syracuse; John, Antoinietta (Nicola) Affinito of Liverpool, Mario (Jill) Russo of Baldwinsville; step-sisters, Rose (George) Augustinos and Mary (Jerry) Connock, both of Liverpool; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 11:15 A.M. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 12 Noon at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.
