Fanny Musingo Garofalo, 101, passed away Saturday. She was born in Compobasso, Italy and lived in Syracuse for most of her life. Throughout the course of her long life she had many careers. When she graduated from high school she worked as a legal secretary for Costello, Cooney, & Fearon Law Firm for 10 years. Fanny and her husband JJ Garofalo owned and operated J.J. Garofalo’s Silver Star Market on East Willow St. They also owned and operated Bayberry Laundromat and Dry Cleaners for many years. Fanny had her own floral business and also worked as a realtor. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church. She was predeceased by her husband JJ Garofalo in 1976 and her daughter, Jeannine Dell in 1998.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph (Dolores) Garofalo of Liverpool and Jack (Linda) Garofalo of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday 9:15 a.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei/St Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park St.
