Celia (Himes) Peryea, 81, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Born in Scriba, New York, she had been living in Bushnell, Florida for the past several years. Celia was a devoted homemaker and mother to her six children and also worked at Kmart and Sofa’s & Chairs. She was predeceased by her parents, Arlyn and Mildred Himes; and her first husband, Lawrence Friot in 1954.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Herb Peryea; daughters, Carol (Frank) Cosentino of Syracuse, Christine (Bob) Carbone of Clay, and Debbie (Mark) Phillips of Elbridge; sons, Doug (Melanie) Peryea of Syracuse, Barry (Kelly) Peryea and Glenn (Kim) Peryea, both of Camillus; sisters, Irene (Tom) Lavigne of Solvay, Bernice Stephenson of Fruitland Park, FL, Phyllis (Richard) Jones of Sherrill, NY, and Doris (Duane) Himes of Mt. Dora, FL; brother, Simeon (Darlene) Himes of N.C.; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday 11 a.m. at the Christ Community Church of the Nazarene. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Farone & Son Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse and also an hour of visitation will be held on Wednesday prior to the funeral service from 10-11 a.m. at the Christ Community Church of the Nazarene, 3644 Warners Road, Syracuse, NY 13209.
