Paul was a beloved father, son, husband, and friend. He was born in New York City, living in Jackson Heights and Bayside before moving to Long Island. He graduated from Bayside High School in 1978 and LIU-C.W. Post in 1983, with a B.S. in Business Administration. His career in sales spanned 35 years at such companies as Hilti, Philips Lighting, Greenlee/Textron, Topaz, and others. Paul also held a Captain’s license and ran a charter boat fishing business in Shinnecock. Paul married his wife Patti in 2002, and together they raised their son, Kyle, in Syosset. Paul had a daughter from a previous marriage, Ana, who resides in Union, N.J.
Paul was a loyal friend, known for his sense of humor, salt of the earth approach to life, generosity, and willingness to always help others. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors—gardening, fishing, boating, golfing, kayaking, hunting, and skiing—and spending time at his vacation home in Stratton, VT.
Paul was an active member in his community and national organizations, volunteering with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary as an assistant district staff officer for navigation systems and as a qualified boating safety instructor in Oyster Bay. He was also an officer with the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 11 and a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, holding various officer positions in the Frank Gorman Council in Syosset. He was also an Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America as his son achieved the rank of Eagle.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Colette Montagni. He is survived by his wife Patti, his children Ana and Kyle, his sister Beth, his nephews Jason and Steven, and niece Elia.
Contributions in Paul's memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering; and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
