Hello. I never met Joe. I am a  knight of Columbus in the Sherman Council in  Glendale, NY.
I  just watched the documentary and I was deeply moved  by it as I learned about the amazing life of Joe. I wish that I had met him. I see that he is buried in St. Charles Cemetery where my father and grandparents are buried.  I hope to visit his grave sometime when I am out there again. In the meantime, I will pray for and to him. God bless!

We never met either, Joe.  And if it hadn't been for the video the Knights did on you and me suddenly "stumbling" upon it, I would never have heard of you.  I'm convinced you were a very holy young man and are now a saint and that you are very powerful in heaven.   If you only knew how much I need your intercession and help.  Please, young man, help me.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Joe. I was at the cemetery today visiting a dear friend of mine and couldn't help but notice his gravestone a few headstones over. Noticing his picture caught my attention, he was so young, my age actually. I cannot fathom the pain involved in a parent having to bury their child, but I send my condolences to Joe's family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss. Just from reading everyone's messages and memories you have all shared, I can tell that he was a great person. Rest in peace ❤

More than anyone else in Syosset, Joey made me feel at home when I moved to Southwoods in eighth grade. It's never easy being the new kid in middle school, but during my first couple of weeks in school, Joey went out of his way every day to show me the ropes and introduce me to everyone in the grade (easy, as he was friends with pretty much everyone). 

Even though it's been over eight years since we last spoke, I still teared up when I first read the terrible news. I couldn't sleep that night – I kept playing in my end my first week at Southwoods. I walked into campus at 7am on a Monday, nervous without knowing a single person. A week later, I felt like I had been a student at Southwoods for years thanks to Joey. Looking through the waves of condolences on here, I know I'm not alone in saying how extraordinary a friend and human being Joey was.

I must say that being at both Joseph's wake and funeral has made me realize what kind of young man he was. Seeing the sea of people that attended and hearing the most beautiful eulogies from his Mother, sister and brother was proof of the extraordinary life he lived. He combined humanity and spirituality in a way that a true Saint lives their life. Joseph was so devoted to his faith and did more in 25 years than people do in a lifetime. I personally did not know Joe but after yesterday I really feel like I do now. What an amazing young man with a heart of gold, so faithful and devoted to Catholicism. God Bless you Joe may you rest in peace in paradise. Guide your loving family, give them strength to get through these hard times. You have so much power now to watch over your parents, siblings. Nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and all the people that you had an effect on. This life will not be the same without you... I believe you have taught all of us to be true to ourselves, to live life to the fullest and never waiver  from our love or faith in God. To have no regrets! Rest in peace Joe, you truly lived a Saint's life. Im sure you were welcomed with open arms into God's kingdom.

I think they talked more than anything I always use to joke with Joe saying rich loved him more then me lol the endless stories that I hear from rich are wonderful! He def was a angel! Joe was truly the greatest man I've ever had the privilege of knowing.   Although his time here on earth was short, he touched more souls and did more good in 25 years than most do in 100.  I pray for the Reali family, who because of Joe is family to me now.  And like Joe truly great people. I have had the gift of knowing the Reali family for some time.  The family are the most wonderful, loving, spiritual, caring, beautiful people you could ever meet.  The wake of their beloved Joseph Mario was beyond words to describe.  I can say while waiting on the long line to pay my respects, I said to myself, I can't wait to see this Saint.  And there he was shining like the sun.  Joseph was a beautiful young man loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him.  We all know he is in heaven and that he will be looking out for his beautiful mother, father, family and friends.  Joseph is in a far better place now and will be missed.  Joseph, child of God, you are a pure example of God's love and you will be missed, but your memories will go on forever.

Joe was the most genuine guy I ever had the privilege of knowing. His smile, laugh & positive attitude were contagious. He looked out for everyone & always made sure we had a great time with whatever we were doing. Although it has been years since I last saw his beautiful face, it feels like yesterday. Joe was the nicest person I have ever met. He never had anything bad to say about anyone, a true angel. We lost a great soul, my thoughts and prayers go out to him and the Reali family

One of my most cherished high school memories is with Joe. My seventeenth birthday fell during the school-week and most of my friends were too busy to go out. Joe and another friend surprised me, picked me up with a bouquet of flowers, and drove me all the way to New Hyde Park to have my birthday dinner at the original Umberto's, just because he'd remembered I'd never tried it and wanted that night to be special. There was no ulterior motive, no romantic intention, just an incredible friend looking to make that day special.

This is the embodiment of Joe Reali. Selfless, caring, kind, thoughtful, and an all-around gentleman. Having a friend do something so thoughtful for you is profound when you're a 17-year-old girl, and I will always remember thinking "this is how all guys should act." I stand by that statement today. The world would be better with more people like Joe, and although he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in these memories. Rest in the sweetest of peace, my friend, you will not be forgotten.

Joey is an amazing person! Nicest, most caring guy I have ever known.  We have been neighbors for years and he was always helping his family around the house.
