Irene (nee Johnson) Goodwin passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born in the Bronx, NY on August 31, 1932. She married Richard (Dick) Goodwin on May 17, 1958 and embarked on a wonderful life journey with him until Dick passed in 2014. They resided in Brookville, NY for 45 years and were proud parents of Richard Jr. (Addie) and Ellen (Kurt) and adoring grandparents of Richard III and John Pohmer. Irene graduated from Fordham University in 1958 with a BS degree in Marketing (Cum laude) and later obtained in 1981 an AS degree in Patternmaking (Magna cum laude) from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She was President of Richard P. Goodwin Associates, a real estate management firm; an initial leader and active volunteer for the Interfaith Nutrition Network serving as the co-founder and 1st honoree of the InnKeepers’ Ball and 1st Honoree of the Inn Golf Outing; a long time parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Church where she created and then directed for 20 years the Pre-Cana program and actively served as a Eucharistic Minister; President of Goodwin Interiors; a house builder, designer, appraiser and expert seamstress; a lover of family ski trips and jogs around Glenby Lane. Irene was a tireless worker, volunteer, reader, and mother who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a lifetime crusader for the underprivileged and less fortunate and never refused a request for help. A vibrant, spirited, spiritual and strong women, she will be missed by all.
