August 13, 2024:  We are remembering Eileen with love in our hearts as her four year anniversary has somehow passed.  Our love and prayers are with Jimmy and all the Bloodgood family - as well as with all the many branches of the McKenna family.   Eileen was a bright light in all of our lives and she is remembered with love and gratitude ❤️.  With Our Love - The De George Family - Kathy, Tricia, Beth, Alice and our beloved Mom & Dad - Una & Larry.

I am so so sorry that I am a year late with my sincere condolences I did not hear of Eileen’s passing
My heart goes out to all of her beloved family as I know this never gets easier. Eileen touched both of my daughters lives in the most positive way while she worked at St. Pat’s many years ago.
I can not say enough about the kind and caring teacher that she was. She was a true gem!  Again I am so sorry

Life makes it terribly convenient to lose touch with people whose company you so enjoyed on a daily basis. And it is also a tragic reminder of the fragility of life and how every single day lived and every act of kindness spent is important. Eileen was the most kind, caring, compassionate, selfless woman. She was beautiful both inside and out. We raised our children side by side and it was always a better day when I chatted with her. She was an angel on earth and now she is an angel in Heaven. Godspeed Eileen. You made each of us happier and better for knowing you. Your legacy will continue through your husband, your children, and your siblings. You will forever remain in our hearts. 

I am so profoundly sorry to learn of the passing of Eileen.  I was fortunate to work with both Eileen and Jim for several years and both left me with wonderful  lasting memories.   Our children attended St. Patrick's and St. Anthony's  together as well and we will always treasure good times we shared. God bless the Bloodgood and McKenna families.

I have often told Binz, the only thing brighter than the color of a sunflower, was her beautiful smile. My sister was constantly smiling ( very much like my dad)!

“God knew no mother could handle us as sisters, so he made us friends”.  When my sister, Eileen ( Binz to me) was battling cancer for the last 8 months,  I tried to send her an inspirational quote, or anything I could find to make her laugh, to make her smile and more importantly, to let her know that she was loved. I found this a few days before she passed away. My incredible brother in law Jim, who is really more than that to me, read this to Binz and said it made her laugh ( which made me smile through my tears). 
Eileen and I were sisters, but more than that,  we were the best of friends. One of my nephews referred to her as her being Robin to my Batman! Truth be told, we probably were more like Lucy and Ethel, Laverne and Shirley and almost every other crazy dynamic duo you can think of! 
Eileen lost her very brave and courageous battle to undifferentiated uterine sarcoma on August 12th, at the age of 57. Even as Eileen was on her deathbed, she was giving me her to do list ( very much like her). Even with her being so sick, she still placed others’ needs ahead of hers. 
Eileen and Jim have raised three amazing kids, Katie, Tim, and John. I can not thank them ( along with Jiim) for everything they have done for my bff, my baby sister, my Irish twin, the right side of my heart,  during these last 8 months. I would also like to thank Nick, Anneka, Matt, and Toni and Michael for everything that they have done to help out Eileen and Jim, and my siblings ( Patti, DJ, Thomas, aka Tom) and myself during this very difficult time. 
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank everyone who said a prayer, sent a text, a card, flowers, food and most importantly, their love to Eileen and her family. 
Eileen never wanted herself to be the center of attention. This was especially true during her battle with cancer. She continued to worry about everyone else. 
John is running his second NYC marathon in honor of Eileen ( once the marathon is up and running again). Any money ..... 

eileen was a kind soul she always had a kind word, went out of her way to say hello if she saw you she will be missed by all of us in maintenance  at holy family regional  school our prayers  are with her family much love from mike frank Wayne and Andrew.

My deepest sympathy to the Bloodgood, McKenna, and Olsen families. I was so saddened to hear of your great loss. Eileen was the sweetest girl, who grew into the most loving woman. She and Jim were made for each other and raised a loving family. From the start Eileen was beautiful inside and out.  There are so many loving and sweet memories that will be cherished by all who knew her. And, there is no doubt that she is an angel in Heaven. 

A Beautiful Soul Who Shall Remain In Our Hearts Eternally....

Our mom wanted nothing in this life other than to cram some extra time into a day and give a little extra love. Her favorite thing was being together. She was a completely selfless woman who never could sit still. She did not seek recognition or glory from any of her actions. Her motto was “Do the right thing. Be good. And be honest.” Our mom found joy in everyday things that we often take for granted. That first cup of coffee in the morning, a walk around the block, an impromptu beach day. Our mom was one of the few people that recognized what she had while she was on this earth. She loved life and others. Her policy was always that of an open door. She never made anyone feel excluded or different. She held the belief that all of us were “good people who were just trying to live to their fullest and best potential.” Our mom understood that no one was perfect, that she herself was not perfect, but that perfection didn’t matter as long as you tried. 

While we may never understand why our mom was taken from us so early, it is important to recognize that in her passing to go forward and live as she did and in doing so to not seek anything else but love and time well spent while in the present. By celebrating our lives and those around us we are living truly as she did. We will forever be grieving in our hearts over the loss of this incredible woman who took on so many different roles. Towards the end of her life my mom said that she would have given us all the time if she could. She told us that it was ok to not understand this part of our lives, but she found peace in knowing that her own children were beginning to embark on their own lives and their own journeys. Alongside our dad we will forever miss our mom, however we will continue to try to “do the right thing. Be good. Be honest. And most importantly to love outwardly onto others who are just good people trying to live to their best and fullest potential.”


We are going to miss mom's presence in ways that I don’t pretend to fully grasp right now. But I continue to find comfort in the idea that mom has left behind the best parts of herself in the ones she loved. Increasingly, I look around and see reminders of Mom in all of us.

With that in mind, if you ever need a reminder of mom’s capacity for patience and her unwavering support I have endless examples. I put mom through more temper tantrums, late nights, and sarcastic comments than Katie and Tim combined. But Mom was always quick to understand and forgive. She met all of my challenges with love and reassurance that always brought us closer together. I am truly grateful that I had the chance to learn from the best parents.

If you ever need a reminder of my mom’s ability to be a caretaker and a mother and the doer, please look to Katie. Katie is responsible for so much of the care mom got this past year. I attribute so many of the healthy days we got with mom to Katie’s work, which was the greatest gift . She’s spent the last 8 months in waiting rooms, on hold with doctors, and taking endless notes. If you see Katie during this please thank her. (from a safe distance of 6 feet) She’s the reason mom received the best care possible. She’s the most dedicated mother, sister and daughter I know. Katie, you’re the glue that holds us together.

If you ever need a reminder of mom's spirit please call Timmy. Timmy and mom always operated on the same frequency and had an energy that made us all laugh and at times cry. (and sometimes both).  Tim your ability to make others smile and be the sweetest human will always remind me of mom. Your thoughtfulness and eagerness to please others is Eileen Bloodgood through and through. And your commitment to your students is something that anyone who knows you and mom can recognize instantly.

Finally, if you ever need a reminder of Mom’s selfless love, please just look to Dad. Mom was and will always be Dad’s world. Dad, watching you take care of mom is something I hope no one has to experience, but it also served as the most authentic and selfless display of love. The only response dad ever gave me when I thanked him for taking care of mom was that “she took care of me my whole life”. And this is true, mom took care of us everyday and will continue to do so. 

We can’t wait to pay forward the best of Mom each and every day.

The morning that Eileen passed away I had the most amazing encounter with a hummingbird. It was at 9:15 am. As I was preparing to video tape, for a brief a moment this beautiful little bird hovered  no father than 2 feet from my face. I knew that something special had just happened, and only later realized that Eileen had passed at 9:00 am. I have no doubt that sweet little bird was Eileen fluttering around that morning saying I’m happy and free now. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sorry to hear this sad news.  Eileen was a kind and gentle soul.  I don’t ever remember her ever saying an unkind word about anyone. 
I graduated St. Dominic HS with Eileen. My most memorable memories of her were in freshman year when I just barely made the basketball team.  Eileen was first string and never made you feel like you weren’t a key player. (Even though I was not)  Actually she did quite the opposite, with her optimistic and caring attitude.  I felt like I belonged on the team.  She had a laugh and an amazing attitude that was contagious.  The bond and love that she had  with her sister Maggie was  like no other. I hope all these beautiful messages I have read give some comfort to Eileen’s family.  It is apparent she touched so many people in so many ways.  My love and prayers to Eileen’s family and loved ones.  

Our hearts break with yours as we imagine life without beloved Eileen in this world.  We are grateful for the gift of her light and love in all of our lives throughout these many decades.  Reading all the beautiful tributes and memories of Eileen make my heart well up with deep emotion.  It’s so nice to see her brought to life through learning of the deep impact she had on so many hearts.  Our love and prayers are with Jimmy and the beautiful family they created through their love of one another.  Our love and prayers are with all the McKenna, Olsen and Pipia families.  Know we love you and our hearts are united with yours in grief, but also in faith - knowing she’s reunited with her Dad and so many others who joyfully greeted our beloved Eileen with open arms when she returned back home to God. Words simply cannot describe Mrs. Bloodgood, who was an Angel sent by the Lord to guide our children through their most formative and tender years. Two of our children, Antonio and Catalina, were blessed to have had Mrs. Bloodgood for third grade and we are certain that their lives are forever changed by her grace, love and guidance.  Even the first time I met Mrs. Blodgood, while doing recess duty at school, she was so worried that the children were kicking the ball all over and making me run to get it, that all I could do was smile and marvel at how concerned she was about literally everyone, children and adults alike. When our daughter Valencia was born, Mrs. Bloodgood had the class craft a beautiful set of welcome cards for our daughter, which literally took our breath away. There's an old saying, "God broke the mold when He made Mrs. Bloodgood". Nothing could be truer with respect to Mrs. Bloodgood. Mrs. Bloodgood was a constant friend, guardian and mentor to each of us and I can still recall her receiving the children each morning to make sure they got out of the buses and cars without incident. Even then, she was like an angel spreading her wings over each child as they entered the school. Truly, there is no question that Mrs. Bloodgood was sent to us by the Lord and I believe each of us would agree that our lives (and more importantly the lives of our children) will take a path of love, faith, kindness and hope for the future, because of the love Mrs. Bloodgood shared with each of us and our children. God Bless Mrs. Bloodgood on her journey to Heaven, where she will be back home with the Lord, watching over each of us, until we meet again... God Bless Mrs. Bloodgood.

Mrs. Bloodgood was my son's teacher at Holy Family. She was more than a teacher though. She was one of the most loveliest individuals I have ever met. She had a heart of gold. My husband was very very ill that year and I explained to her what was going on at home and I had asked her to keep an eye on my Tommy. I told her I was at the hospital a lot and that with his dad being ill and me not being home I was afraid it would take a toll on Tommy emotionally. Well, she became more than just a teacher to me and to Tommy that year. She kept him close and talked with him and always kept me in the loop and always asked me how my husband was doing. She was truly a friend, someone you could easily talk to as if you knew her your entire life. She will be missed dearly by many. But in our hearts she'll always be near. God Bless her and God Bless her family.


Eileen was always so supportive of me in my first years as a teacher. She uplifted everyone around her.  Her smile was contagious.  She was a great mom, as anyone who knew her children could see.  She was a great teacher too. I am so sorry for your loss. 

We extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of a wonderful, kind, smart and loving woman and teacher. She inspired our children to be the best and kindest human beings they can be, just as Eileen was. May she rest in peace with all our angels, watching over us all. 

I was very nervous attending my first aide meeting for St.Patrick's school, that was the first time I met Eileen.  She gestured for me to join her table saying  "I'm Eileen,  this is Maureen and this is Colleen."  I knew immediately that I was at the right table.  And when I was going for my masters, she would say with a wink and a smile "You know Erin you don't have to get all A's in graduate school." 
Eileen was giving,welcoming and loving to all around her.  I pray for peace for Eileen's family and friends during this time of great sadness and loss.

I really am at a loss for words. Eileen was the most kindhearted, giving, thoughtful person you could hope to meet. My heart breaks for all the McKenna/Bloodgood/Olson/Pipia’s who are so dear to us. We love you.

I was fortunate to know Eileen yet  I knew from the start that she was someone special.  I can't imagine the grief her family is going through but she left a message for all of us  to follow. She excelled at so many things in life but most of all,  I think her example as   a wife,  daughter, mother, grandmother, friend, etc.  was a model for all.
