Ruby H. Hurst Howard

Sylvania – Margarette “Ruby” Hurst Howard, age 87, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA. She was born in Screven County, was a retired homemaker and was a member of Double Heads Baptist Church. She was also a former youth leader, former Cub Scout leader, former Sunday School teacher and was a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Melvin Lee Howard, Sr.; Parents: Herschel B. & Winnie Sue Potter Hurst; Son: B.J. Howard.

Survivors: Daughter and Son-In-Law: Lynn H. & Michael Jennings of Dacula, GA; Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Melvin L. “M.L.”, Jr. & Becky T. Howard, Wayne & Laura Howard and Craig & Kim Howard, all of Sylvania; Sister: Luella H. Moore of Garden City, GA; Grandchildren: Todd Howard, Rodney Howard, Tina H. Haynes, Eric Howard, Cristi Howard, Michael Howard, Nikki Hughes, Kiah Howard, Jamie Griner, Chris Griner, Penny Jernigan and Brian Richards; 13 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Double Heads Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Joyner officiating. Burial at Double Heads Baptist Church Cemetery. She will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
