Ray Jenkins Forehand

Sylvania – Ray Jenkins Forehand, age 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Georgia Regents University in Augusta. He was born in Screven County to the late Stafford Bernard & Mattie Jenkins Forehand. He worked at the Savannah shipyard in the 1940’s, during WWII and when the war was over worked at Savannah River Plant in construction. In 1952, he started Forehand Logging and in 1984, he semi-retired, but still was the overseer of operations, to make sure everything was done right. He held this office until his passing. In his spare time, he liked to fish and to play softball. He played on the Forehand Brothers team with all his siblings and later on Forehand Logging started sponsoring teams and he helped to oversee that too. He was also a lifetime and faithful member of Hiltonia United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by His Wife: Beebe Northcut Forehand.

Survivors: Daughter & Son-In-Law: Marcia F. & Lester M. “Buddy” Williams of Sylvania; Sons & Daughter-In-Law: Randy & Joy S. Forehand and Daryle Forehand, all of Sylvania; Sisters: Teresa F. Godbee, Maurice F. Sharpe and Robyn F. Reddick, all of Sylvania; Brother: Lavaughn Forehand of Sylvania; Grandchildren: Jill & Ted Lariscy, Jan & Dale Collins, Jena Collins, Jason & Jill Forehand and Justin & Brooke Forehand; 9 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hiltonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Williams and Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. Burial following at Bascom Cemetery. He will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Pallbearers: Matthew Forehand, Brett Reddick, Ray Reynolds, Dale Forehand, Keith Forehand and Tommy Ward.
