Dear Robin:

I am sitting here today thinking about you and about Tommy.  He was small in stature as a man, but as a witness to the Glorious Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tommy Robbins was a giant among men!  He was quiet in his mannerisms, shy in his demeanor, and meek in spirit to those around him, but he fiercely sought to proclaim God's Grace and Mercy toward every Sinner who needed a Savior.  What a bright and shining example he painted while living his life for those who did not know our Lord,   never failing to share the hope of redemption to those who would listen who were in search of the glorious peace that is found only in the cleansing blood of our 
Redeemer.

How is that we say Thank You for sharing your valuable and precious time that you had left with Tom since that dreadful day in August with us,  But you graciously moved aside each and every time that any of us entered the room,  wanting all of us to share in the time that was left with him.  How is that we convey to you the appreciation we have in our heart for the sacrifices you have made as his mate in each of our behalf not only for the years you spent with him prior to August, but for each and every day you have so graciously made room for us during the last 4 months.  Each of us will treasure every memory we had at every visit for the rest of our lives.

Today, it has become real that none of us told him enough how much we appreciated his quiet support of each of us during each of our own trials that he so graciously went through with us...  None of us told him enough how much we valued the faithful prayers he prayed for each of us daily. None of us told him what a joy it was to sit and hear his very plain and simple message of Grace that our Lord had given to him to convey to us.  None of us ever thought Tom would leave this earth before we did, but God has now taken him from us, and now it is so clear and apparent that the void that is left is so huge that we shall never become accustomed to living without him.  Today, it is difficult to imagine how any of us can even think what it will be like to face a crisis without his faithful presence, love, friendship, and support.  He will always a be a part of all of us, and there will always be a  special memory we hold in our heart of him  that will greet us not only each time we walk into the church., but each time we embrace you, or pass the house, and we shall treasure each of those memories forever. 

Thank you for sharing him with us.  We thank God for Him and we thank our God for You being there for him when he needed you most.

Tommy Robbins, my pastor, my friend, my "paw". You will be greatly missed. I regret not having spent more time with my pastor during the brief time the Lord brought us to Fairmont Grace Church. 
I want to say Tommy and Robin "maw", were always there for me and my wife Jessica and always spoke the truth and simplicity of the gospel in Christ in every situation. I will miss your sweet spirit, your lovingkindness, your funny quips, your constant hospitality, and most of all, your incessant encouragement to look to Christ and bow to him in all things. I'm so grateful for the time the Lord gave us with you as our pastor and friend. We love you. 
Robin I pray the peace which passes all understanding on you during this time. We love you so much too.

Dear Robin,
So sorry to hear about your husband.  I never had the chance to meet him but have heard a lot about him from your family.  I'm sure he will be sadly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Robin, You already know how we felt about Tommy and you.  He had such a gentle spirit and was so dedicated to the Lord.  He was a true example of how we should live our lives.  This is a time of celebration because we know he is in heaven.  We are human so the ones left behind will grieve for him while being very excited to know he will live eternally.  I know God will give you the strength you will need in these coming days and also for his children, your children, his sister, and all who were blessed enough to be touched by this exordinary man of God. If you need us you know we will be there for you.

Dear Robin,
Betty and I pray that God will give you more grace during this time.  He alone can fill the void that we know you're feeling.  I am thankful to have had the privilege in this life to have known and loved Tommy.  He has been a dear friend and brother as well as faithful to the gospel of God's glory and to His Church.  His example of kindness, faithfulness and humility are certainly to be followed. We look forward to gathering with him around the throne of Christ when God has ordained it. We love you in Christ and pray that He will continue to bless you and the Church family there.  Please let us know if we can help you in any way in the days ahead.

A Tribute to a Faithful Pastor
Tommy Robbins
1948 — 2011

 Bro. Tommy Robbins and I have been friends for more than thirty years. In all those years, we have never had a cross word between us or a disagreement of any kind. The Lord graciously delivered my friend from all the evil consequences of sin and the Fall Sunday morning, January 9, 2011, just before eleven o’clock. The previous day I had the privilege of being at his side. We had several good visits.

When Shelby and I arrived at his home, Bro. Tommy assured us of his complete peace and his great desire to depart soon to be with Christ and His family in “the heavenly Jerusalem.” The last time he called me to his bed was about eleven o'clock Saturday night. He requested that I read and have prayer with him, his family, and his visitors. We read Isaiah 35, sang Amazing Grace, and prayed together. Shortly thereafter he went to sleep, awaking periodically, but no longer cognizant.

 Seventeen years ago Fairmont Grace Church in Sylacauga, Alabama called him to be their pastor. He served them and served the Lord Jesus with them with great faithfulness. Bro. Robbins was a soft spoken man of tremendous character and strength. Firmly convinced of the Gospel of God’s free and sovereign grace in Christ, he preached it faithfully and had no tolerance for those who compromise the Gospel.

 He sought no advantage or gain of any kind for himself. He pastored a small congregation, and considered it his honor to do so. He was loved by them; and he loved them. I had the privilege of preaching for him three days every year for seventeen years. For the past ten year Shelby and I have spent our annual visits to Sylacauga with Bro. Tommy and his wife, Robin, in their home. Never once did I hear Bro. Tommy speak ill of any of the Lord’s sheep who had been trusted to his care.

 The last few years of his earthly pilgrimage were years of deteriorating health, constant sickness, and much physical pain. Yet, Bro. Tommy never complained in my presence. Many others who attended to his needs and were in his presence almost constantly during his last days have said the same. The last time I asked him about his pain, Saturday afternoon, he said, “O we don’t want to get into that,” and smiled. He died as graciously as he lived.

 Tommy Robbins was greatly respected and greatly loved. He will be greatly missed. He showed me by example how to live in this world for the glory of God, trusting Christ and serving the interests of His kingdom. I pray that God the Holy Spirit give me grace to follow my friends example to the end of my appointed days.

Dear Robin,

Shelby and I continue to pray for you. May the Lord our God continue to sustain and strengthen you with His grace. You and Tommy are cherished friends. What blessed hours we spent together in the worship of our Redeemer and in the sweet fellowship that God the Holy Spirit alone can give! Soon, we shall join Tommy in that blessed rest into which he has entered with Christ. Until then, let us follow the example your beloved husband and pastor set before us and live to the honor of God our Savior.

Dear Robin:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Tommy was loved and respected by those of us who knew him and preach the same gospel.  The sovereign Lord Jesus Christ is the One that he trusted and exalted in his messages, and he will be missed.  I have a number of precious memories of times we shared together.  
May the Lord give you and all of Tommy's family and church the needed grace each day.
