Graveside service for William Odell Curtis, age 82 of Sylacauga, will be Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Bro. Mac McCaleb officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Curtis and Son North Chapel. He passed away March 3, 2021 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, M.V. and Arnold Curtis; sister and brother-in-law, Norma Jean and Billy Tom Mathews.
As a teenager, Odell was a troop leader and Eagle Scout for Jamboree Troop #12. He retired from Kimberly Clark/Bowater with over 20 years of service and was a member of Sylacauga Bass Club for many years. After retirement, he spent many hours fishing on the local lakes with friends and family. Odell attended Marble City Baptist Church. He loved his family and had a heart of gold.
Odell was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 63 years, Brenda Pruitt Curtis; daughters, Trina Goggins (Tony), Leslie Collier (Norman); grandchildren, Anthony Goggins (Jennifer), Amber Nicholson, Heather Long (Bre), Matt Collier (Tiffany); great-grandchildren, Caden Nicholson, MacKenzie Long, John Long and Baker Hayes Collier.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Teaford, Johnny Bailey, Ben Pemberton, Steve Sherbert, Ruben Abernathy and Neal Goza. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Martin, Don Wilson, Charles Schultz, Lester Bryant, Junior Hamilton, Mike Woods and Charlie Rogers.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to any local high school fishing team. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.curtisandsonfh.com. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the services.
