Funeral services for Tierce Eugene Sasser Sr., will be on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Valley View Church of God with Rev. Keith A. Owensby officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Sasser died on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Marshall Medical Center South, in Boaz, Alabama.
His life was lived in providing for his family, his very special wife, his children and grandchildren. To him, this was what life was all about. Also, he deeply enjoyed his work and the people working with him at Gaston Steam Plant, the PSDF Facility and many others within the Southern Company. His working as a medic for Sylacauga Ambulance Service brought him many hours of pleasure in assisting with the needs of others during their very difficult times. Finally working as medic with the B.B. Comer football team for many years brought yet another aspect to his full life. He was proud of his association with the teams and the coaching staff.
He was a member of the Valley View Church of God for many years. During these years, he was a Sunday School teacher, participated in the Sanctuary Choir and Praise Team and sang with the men’s quartet. He also served as church clerk, and was a member of the Church Council, and Finance Committee for many years.
He was a military veteran serving with the United States Air Force and after discharge worked as a civilian at Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was proud of his association with our military and especially proud of the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Sasser was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Mary Evelyn Kitchens Sasser; his children Tierce E. Sasser Jr. (Terry) and Michael Ray Sasser; his parents Tierce C. Sasser and Mildred Conway Sasser, sisters in law Barbara Kitchens Davies and Connie Kitchens Ragsdale; and brothers in law E.J. Kitchens, Sherman Kitchens and Herndon C. Gardner.
He is survived by his Daughter, Lynn Medders (Norman) of Albertville, Alabama; Daughter-in-law; Natalie Sasser, Brother, Paul Sasser (Sharron) of Montgomery, Alabama; Sisters, Martha Edwards (Bobby) and Jan Rousseau (Steve) of Sylacauga; Brothers in law; William T. (Bill) Kitchens of Dora, John Mickey Kitchens (Susan) of Harpersville, Sister in law; Joyce Kitchens Gardner of Talladega. Grandchildren: Beth Murray (Tyler), Lauren Ingram (Mack), Andrea Albert (Sam), Hope Maxwell (John), Byron Sasser, Slayd Sasser, Sarah Kate Sasser, Jase Batten, Jack Sasser and Mary Elizabeth Margaret (Mem) Sasser. Great grandchildren: Robbie Murray, Dayton Sasser, Madelyn Maxwell, Leland Ingram, Brooks Maxwell, Benjamin Albert, and Ella Mack Ingram. Chosen grandchildren; Lauren Edwards, Leslie Owensby, and Lane Owensby.
Pall Bearers will be Scott Masters, Byron Sasser, Tyler Murray, Mack Ingram, Sam Albert, John Maxwell, Lane Owensby, and Colin Edwards.
Honorary Pall Bearers: Sylacauga Ambulance Service, the Electrical and Instrument Department personnel of the Gaston Generating Plant and the PSDF facility at Wilsonville, Alabama and the Church Council of Valley View Church of God.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 3:00PM at Valley View Church of God followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM with Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
