Thinking and praying for the Sprayberry family on Steve’s one year Anniversary on entering Heaven. But know it is still difficult for family and friends who said goodbye. 🙏🙏

So sad to have just read Steve passed away some time back. Didn't personally know him but I do know he was a Great football player at Alabama. Have always been told he was a Great man too. My deepest condolences to the family!! Sincerely, Charles Franklin

Very sad news of Steve's passing. He was a great American and teammate. To Carol and his family, may the Lord give you the peace and comfort you need during this time of your bereavement.

Steve and I have known each other for most of our lives and I considered Steve a good friend. Steve was such a good caring person who did things the right way.  We used to talk a lot about football but for the last several years most of that conversation turned to grandchildren. I know that all the people who knew Steve will miss him so much but what an example he has left us on how we should live our lives.

As an Insurance Marketing Representative, one of the pleasures of my job was a visit to Wright-Sprayberry Insurance in Sylacauga.  Between Sam Wright and Steve Sprayberry, a little insurance would be discussed, and a LOT about LIFE would be discussed.  You could spend hours in there just talking about the pictures on the walls.  They loved pictures.  And every one of them had a story.  I moved on to other companies, and we saw each other less and less.  The last time I saw Steve was a while back at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes banquet in Birmingham.  I had not seen him during dinner, but after the banquet, he came and looked me up, and we reunited for a few minutes.  Too short, it turns out.  I'm richer just for having known Steve.  I'll miss him.

Once a year for a few years Steve and I would line up across from each other on the football field. 
I had utmost respect for Steve's strength, technique, and knowlege on the football field but what i respected him most for was the gentlemanly way he carried and conducted himself.
Anytime i was ever around him he was a Southern gentleman!

From your close friends and loved ones at Wright Sprayberry and Petra our heartfelt condolences to Carol and the family. Steve was such a wonderful person to work with and he deeply loved his family, the University of Alabama and his work family. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

This great shot of Steve appeared in today's Sylacauga News online newspaper.  Our local football star that served us all proud as part of our beloved Crimson Tide.  But it came with a price.  The only way our wish bone lineman could be stopped was by low cut blocks which have now been outlawed.  Steve battled leg issues for many years as a result of these blocks and this had an effect on his life.  So the next time you meet one of your school heroes, thank them for their service--just like you would our military veterans.  Steve, thank  you for your service and for making us proud.  "Year by year the ages through, until in heaven we meet."

May God Bless This Family at this time. Have nothing but great memories with the Sprayberry that will never be forgotten.

RIP Steve , I always looked up and respected you, were a great teammate but a better man God bless , and God bless your family , you will be missed!  

Praying for Family and Friends.  I'm so so sorry for your loss.  I can't imagine this.  I didn't know him personally but what I did know of him, is that he always smiled and seemed very happy in life.  I could tell he was a loving Christian who loved the Lord.  He raised his children very well.  I was blessed to be friends with his daughter Kelly in High school when we had band together.  I have no words but to know that I'm praying for Jesus to hold you through this and to keep you comfort.  Sendings Hugs.
