Funeral service will be Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Rev. Jeff Harris and Rev. Corey Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 at the funeral home.
Shirley lived the majority of her life in Sylacauga and worked for Avondale Mills until retiring.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Barker, father, Dan Kelley, mother, Myrtle Kelley, son, Richard Smith, brothers, Bobby Kelley, Jimmy Kelley, Dan Kelley Jr., Ray Kelley, Billy Kelley and sister, Johnny Graves.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly R. Owens (Ken Cobb), sons, Rickey Smith (Carol) and Rodney Smith, brother, Manuel Kelley (Jackie), grandchildren, Sherry Butler (Sammie), Chase Owens, Jeremy Smith (Garth), Patrick Smith (Sarah), Brooke Smith Baird (Brandon), Craig Smith, Chris Smith (Judy), Cody Smith and Nathan Smith, 15 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
A true animal lover, Shirley found a special connection with her faithful dog companion, Cooter. Their bond was a testament to the loyalty and comfort that pets bring to our lives. The memories of shared playful moments, and the comfort of a loyal friend will forever be etched in the hearts of those who observed this heartwarming companionship.
It is with heavy hearts that her family says goodbye to her but know that she is rejoicing in seeing her husband, mother, father, son, brothers and sister and walking with her heavenly Father. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and lasting memories. She lived a life characterized by compassion, selflessness and a deep love for her family. She was a beacon of warmth, bringing joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She found joy in witnessing the growth of her family through the generations and nothing pleased her more than pictures of them all. Her unconditional love created a sense of unity that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
