Rodney Scott Smith,70, of Sylacauga AL passed away peacefully on January 27th, 2024. Rodney was a loving, caring, and thoughtful person, always known for his willingness to help others in any way that he could. He also loved Auburn football. He loved old cars and traveling and Huey helicopters. He was always the life of the party. He loved all of his children and grandchildren.
After the Vietnam he went to work with BnK Construction for many years. After leaving BnK, Rodney started his own company. Smiths Roofing is still going strong today, through his son.
Rodney is survived by his son Chris Smith (Judy); his daughter Brooke Baird (Brandon); his son Craig Smith; his son Cody Smith; and his son Clay Butler; his brother Rickey Smith and his sister Rena Owens; his grandchild C.J. Smith (Iris), his grandchild Lexi Smith, his grandchild Zeb Baird, his grandchild Zander Baird, his grandchild Zaden Baird, his grandchild Bailee Parrett and his great grandchild River Smith.
Rodney was preceded in death by his father Robert Smith and his mother Shirley Barker; his brother Richard "Worm" Smith.
A visitation for Rodney will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service. Rodney will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. All services will be officiated by Rev. Brandon Baird.
Serving as pallbearers are Zeb Baird, Zander Baird, Zaden Baird, CJ Smith and Clay Butler.
