Sept. 30, 1931 - Jan. 5, 2021
Harpersville, AL - Milton leaves behind his wife of 66 years, June. Their love story is our favorite. He was hitchhiking from California to Alabama. He was on leave from the Navy, headed home to visit. He was picked up by a couple who were going to a high school graduation. He tagged along for a ride further east afterwards. The couple that offered him the ride were June's sister and brother-in-law. June was the graduate. They met, fell in love and married two weeks later. Sixty-six years of building a life with joys and sorrows. Sixty-six years of love.
Milton, Lee, Burrell, Daddy, Papa - He was known by many names. He is survived by his wife, June; three sons, Matt (Denise), Rusty (Shannon), and Rocky (Tammy); five grandchildren, Luke (Ashley), Tessa (Blake), Angela (Colby), Angus, and Melia; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; one brother, Howard; and one sister, Carolyn. Milton also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memory. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Erskine and Nora Burrell; and one brother, Raymond.
Milton lived a full and adventure filled life. He worked in oil fields to restaurants to paper mills, with many interesting jobs in between. He loved to tell stories of his adventures. He loved to read. He loved his family. He will be missed but the family rest firm in faith, we will meet again.
