Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Kaylon Patricia Edwards Bates, 71, will be Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Josh Burks officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL .

Mrs. Bates died Thursday, April 7, 2022 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Malcolm Bates Jr.; mother, Gladys Ricks Edwards, father, Floyd Edwards, sisters, Francis Edwards Landers and Shirley Edwards Mitchum, brothers, Houston Edwards and Vernon Edwards.

She is survived by her daughters, Angie Limbaugh (Craig), Stacey Rhodes (Tony); sons, Rick Nichols (Dina) and Heath Bates; brothers, Freemon Edwards (Susie) and Robert Edwards (Karen); sister, Connie Luck; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Kaylon and Malcolm were long standing members of Shelvin Rock Baptist Church. Malcolm was a Sunday School Teacher and Kaylon served as the Sunday School Secretary and custodian. They loved their family, their Savior and their church family.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Osbourn, Cody Rhodes, Ben Bates, Lane Limbaugh, Tony Rhodes and Jonathan Lindenthaler.
