Katherine B Whitehead

Katherine (Kathy) Brown Whitehead, age 75 of Summerdale, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday April 3, 2025. She was a kind and gentle soul, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Kathy was strong in her Faith and was an active member of Lagoon Baptist Church in Gulf Shores.

Kathy was born in Galesburg, Illinois, to Phillip and Florence Nelson Brown. She graduated from Sylacauga High School and pursued her career in Nursing where she worked in many areas until retiring.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years Roger D. Whitehead, daughter Amy Reynolds Beckner, husband David “Bear”, step-son Scotty Whitehead and wife Sandy, and step-daughter Cindy Whitehead Stephens and husband Matt. Kathy is also survived by her three siblings Jean Brown Persons husband Roger, Mike Brown and Brenda Wilson, and Carol Simon. Kathy carried many titles that included daughter, sister, wife, mother, and nana.

Kathy had seven grandchildren, Lawrence (Shannon), Catie (Will), Hannah (Nick), Zac (Jessica), Stevie (Chris), Cody (Emily), Storm (Cassidy).

Kathy also had 17 Great Grandchildren (Lawrence) Peri Lee, Saylor Grace, Camden, Case and Choen. (Catie) Ellie and Emma-Cait, (Hannah) Charlie and Jensen (Stevie) Mason and Lexie (Cody) Crew, Betty Blake, Cayden and Carter (Storm) Rowan and Blaine.

Kathy had a special place in her heart for her numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, aunt, and a friend to many.

Visitation for Kathy will be Tuesday April 8th family 4:30 to 5:00 pm Friends 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Her funeral and Graveside will take place on Wednesday April 9th at 1:30pm.

The location will be Curtis and Son Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

Serving as Pallbearers are Lawrence Edwards, David “Bear” Beckner, Brandon Persons, Phillip McGhee, Kendall Walker, Harold Drummonds.

Kathy’s last wish was NO BLACK or DARK COLORS. Please wear all bright colors.
