His memory will be cherished as a great, loving husband, devoted father, and a friend to many. John served in both the Air Force and Army. A Vietnam Veteran, John served several tours in country as an air traffic controller. He retired from military service after nearly 25 years.
John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth W. Harris; his daughter, Patricia Ann Williams; his daughter, Susan Marie Kelley; his son John Corley Harris; his step-daughter Lyndale Smithson; his step-son Brandon Walton; and his step-son Stacey Walton; his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Verna Harris; his sisters, Emily Landers and Vera Fant; and his brothers, Doyle R. Harris, Franklin Harris, Albert Harris, and Walter Harris.
A visitation for John will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
John will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga, AL.
