James Mack Killgore

Childersburg, AL. - Heaven gained an angel on September 20, 2024. He was born June 29, 1936, to James Blocker Killgore and Winnie Atkinson Killgore in Weogufka, Alabama. Mack was the firstborn child having a younger sister Peggy Killgore Veasey that preceded him in death.

He graduated from B. B Comer High School in Sylacauga. Mack was a loving and devoted father of two daughters, Tina and Traci who he cherished with all his heart. He also loved his three step sons Derek, Alan, and Scot Hill who called him Papa Mack.

Mack married Betty Hill Killgore in August of 1993 and they were married 31 years before her passing in August of this year. They resided in Childersburg, Alabama where they attended Grace Baptist Church.

Mack was a retired sheet metal worker from Kimberly Clark / Bowater Company in Childersburg. He was a great craftsman with his hands and could do most anything. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Mack also proudly served his country and retired with 27 years service with the Alabama Army National Guard where he held the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Mack is preceded in death by his wife Betty Killgore, his father, mother, and sister.

Mack loved unconditionally and was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his daughter Tina Wagnon (husband Karl); grandsons John Wagnon (wife Allison) and Sam Wagnon (wife Kaylee); daughter Traci Manuel (husband Bob); grandsons Clay Usrey (Monica), Drew Manuel (wife Leslie), granddaughters Kelly Kline (husband Adam) and Kerri Manuel; step-son Derek Hill (wife Rhonda), step-son Alan Hill (wife Penny), step-grandsons Casey Hill, and Colin Hill (wife Caitrin), step great-granddaughters Harlee Hill, Ivy Hill, and Lexington Hill; step-son Scot Hill (wife Lisa); step-grandson Owen Hill; and step-granddaughter Avery Hill.

A visitation for Mack will be Friday, October 4, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel.

Mack will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, AL.
