Jackie Nell Varner

Jackie Varner, age 74 of Sylacauga passed away at her residence on Monday, January 25, 2021. She was born in Sylacauga and lived here most of her life. A memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 2pm at Curtis and Son North Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior. She worked at Liveoak’s Shoe Shop for 16 years till it became Town and Country Cleaners where she later retired in 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Willie Burdette Perry, her sister Polly Morris, and brothers Walker and Walter Perry. She is survived by her husband Rodger Varner, Daughter Robin(Doug) Merkel and Son Greg (Leigh) Varner, along with 5 grandkids- Chase Merkel, Benji Merkel, McKenzie Merkel, Lani Varner and Clayton Varner. She loved spending time with family, Blue Bell Black Walnut Ice Cream, and bread with every meal. She was the number 1 fan of any activity that the grandkids participated in, except football, and tried to be at all their games. In lieu of flowers for the family they request donations be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
