Ira Martin Jr.

Mr. Ira Martin, Jr., age 89 of Sylacauga, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9 at 11:00 AM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Rev. Tim Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 8 from 5-8 at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Vercie Martin; daughter, Janet Martin Robinson (Kenneth R.); 4 grandchildren, Tony Robinson (Heather) , Paul Robinson (Jenice), Travis Robinson (Chelle), Emily Robinson Dishman (Andrew); 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Buster B. Martin and O’Neal Martin; sisters, Mae McDonald and Betty Collier.

He served in the Navy and was on the USS O’Brien and was in the Bay of Japan at the end of World War II. He was a member of Sylacauga Church of God for 58 years.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tony Robinson, Paul Robinson, Travis Robinson, Andrew Dishman, Taylor Robinson, and friend, Chris Chandler.
