Rockford, AL. - Geraldine C. Turner, 102, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22,2024 in Alex City, Alabama.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday June 26, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Ave., Sylacauga, Alabama. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 2950 Coosa County Road 459, Rockford, AL. Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by grandchildren, Shelley Turner Waites (Ray), Kenneth L. Turner, Jr. (Lela), Layla Turner Rogers, (Michael), Jackson W. Turner-Vaught (Keeley), Jeremy Daniel Turner, (Stephanie), James Caleb Turner; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years Sidney W. Turner, their 2 sons, Kenneth L. Turner, Sr., (Marsha), James Alan Turner; her parents, George and Enola Crew Collins and seven siblings.
Even though she was there helping run the family business they had at the time, her greatest joy was her family. She loved it best when there was a house full. She and her siblings, nieces and nephews, as much as her own children and grandchildren. She loved her Church family and was a proud member of Providence Baptist Church as long as any of us can remember. She had the sweetest Spirit anyone could have. She was a most gracious host you were always welcome if you were expected or just dropped by. There seemed to always be something fresh baked and a cup of coffee waiting. We were lucky to have the very best cook as our precious Grandmother. She touched so many and she will be missed.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery fund. She always how talked about how important the cemetery fund was to her.
