George Edwin Childress

Sylacauga - Funeral Service for George "Pop" Childress, age 81 of Sylacauga will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Mike Frost officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Childress passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Nell Childress; brother, Uklin Childress. Mr. Childress was retired with 27 years of service in the U.S. Air Force serving during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He is survived by his sons, Marty Childress (Cathryn) of Sylacauga, Greg Childress (Connie) of Sylacauga; sister, Patsy Lightsey of Sylacauga; daughter in law, Zelliah Clark of Huntsville; Grandchildren, Brandi Morgan, Ashley Reid, Mathew Childress, Ryan Childress, Alex Childress, Chance Wheeler, Crystal Wesson; Great Grandchildren, Caleb Brooke, Emily, Chloe, Regan, Brody, Landon, Hunter, Max, Gunter, Jake. Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
