She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Coleman Courington in 1987, a long-time employee of Gaston Steam Plant; her parents Minnie and Spencer Fulton of Corona; her sisters Geneva Moore (Jimmy) of Berry, Darrace Kimbrell (Doyle) of Childersburg and her sister Shirley Hagood (Walter) of Oakman. She is survived by her godchild/nephew Greg Kimbrell (Pam) of Childersburg, and her godchild/niece Cindy Dunaway (Daniel) of Westover and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a graduate of Oakman High School. She married the love-of-her-life Coleman in 1955. She followed Coleman with his Alabama Power career until they settled into their quaint Childersburg home in 1960. A faithful Christian, she and Coleman were vital workers in the Sylacauga First Church of the Nazarene: for many years, Dot served on the church board, taught Sunday school, and served as Nazarene Women's Missionary Society President. A precious part of the Childersburg community, Dot served as a poll worker year after year, greeting neighbors and friends on Election day. An avid gardener, Dot proudly won Childersburg's Yard-of-the-Month time and again and took great pride in making her home a delight to the community. As a proud Alabamian, she pulled for the Tide. In all, Dot fiercely loved Jesus, her husband, her family, her friends, her neighbors, and her church. For many years, she quietly blessed others with her sweet and thoughtful gestures and made an eternal impact on those around her. Dot was greatly loved and will be sorely missed until we are reunited again in our Savior's kingdom.
