Mott graduated from Sylacauga High School and Auburn University. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force in Vietnam. He retired from E.C. Gaston Steam Plant in Wilsonville, where he worked for 40 years. Mott was a loving husband, father, and friend.
Mott is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Rumsey; his son Joel Rumsey (Ashlee); his daughter Amanda Ebert (Chuck); and his step-daughter Teresa Maxwell; his sister Myra Beth; his grandchildren Blake Rumsey (Sarah), Kaitlyn Evans (Alex), Ginny Snodgrass (Jordan), Lilly Higginbotham, and Taylor Short (Colton); his great grandchildren Addi, Bella and Trey.
Mott was preceded in death by his son Timothy Michael Rumsey; his father Buell M. Rumsey Sr. and his mother Erie Songer Rumsey.
A visitation for Mott will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM with Bro. Brian Ward officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mott's memory may be made to Alzheimer's and Dementia Research.
