Sterrett, AL - Funeral service for Aline Wood Johnson, 96, will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Hilyer and Rev. John Woodall officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg, AL.
Mrs. Johnson passed away peacefully at her son's home is Chelsea on Monday, January 3, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Johnson Sr., parents, Will and Henrietta (Etta) Wood, sister, Clarice Owens, sister, Infant Sadie Janice Wood, brother, Morris Wood, and brother, Bloys Wood.
Graduating in 1943, Momma may have been the oldest living person who attended Childersburg High School. Momma was a homemaker and loved vegetable gardening and canning. She enjoyed working the voting poles at Bon Air for many, many years. She loved kids and retired from Childersburg Elementary School CNP and also served at A H Watwood School. She loved to be called Grandmother by all the kids and everyone else as she went through life. She was a lifelong resident of Childersburg, Alabama until her last 4 years when she lived with her son, Jimmy and Syble Johnson in Chelsea, Alabama. Momma was a long-time member and church worker at Trinity Baptist Church in Childersburg where she enjoyed teaching and working with children. As we believe in our Faith, her death is a sad occurrence for all her family and friends but it is a great day for her. Momma loved life.
She is survived by three sons, Walter (Sherry) Johnson Jr., Jimmy (Syble) Johnson, Mike Johnson; five grandchildren, Ginger (Matt) Hilyer, Dean Johnson, Jennifer (Ken) Speigner, Megan (Chad) Hartsfield, Cody Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Hilyer, Harrison Hilyer, Hayden Speigner, Emilee Hartsfield, and Rhett Hartsfield.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church Hwy 280 Childersburg, AL.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Johnson, Dean Johnson, Ken Speigner, Chad Hartsfield, Hayden Speigner and Harrison Hilyer. Honorary pallbearer will be Rhett Hartsfield.
