It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Beloved mom, Zelia Shirley (Sampson) Nardocchio, on December 22 at the age of 89, with her family at her side. Born on December 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Bertha (MacDonald) Sampson. When you say you had the best Mom, ours truly was. Mom’s generosity, kindness, support, and unconditional love to everyone who had the pleasure to know her will be forever in our memories. She married the love of her life, the late Dominic (Buddy) Nardocchio, in 1952. Mom and Dad were inseparable and had the joy of travelling together to many places all over the world. They truly enjoyed their yearly trips to Florida. In later years, they took great delight in Casino fun. Mom’s greatest pride was her family: from Sunday dinners to Christmas time and the joy of having her family together. Mom was a wonderful cook and baker. We especially cherished her prized Christmas Fruit Cakes. Leaving behind beautiful memories, Zelia is survived by her daughters Marian (Blair) Neal, Marie (Steve) Lewis, Theresa, Andrea, Lisa (Greg), Concetta (David) Burns, and son, Carlo (Shelly). She will be forever treasured by her grandchildren, Adam (Susanne Dixon) & Robyn (Rob Harris) Neal, Christopher Lewis & Kellie (Donald) Chisholm, Michael (Nadia) MacInnis & Michelle (Roy) Mugford, Stephen (Krystal) MacQueen & Marilyn (Warren) LaPorte, Jason & Joseph Nardocchio, her special boys Carlo & Thomas, & 13 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Gerard Sampson. Zelia was predeceased by her loving husband in 2013, a son Joseph, in infancy, a grandson, John David Burns, sisters Mary, Theresa, Bernie, and brothers, John, Alfie, & Peter. We would like to thank the staff of Harbourstone Miner’s Lane for the compassion and love given to Mom while in their care. There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima on Saturday Jan 18 at 11 am, celebrated by Fr. Peter MacDonald and concelebrated by Fr. Patrick O’Neill.
