It is with great sadness that we, the family of Tom, announce his passing on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Born in Little Lorraine on July 28, 1938, he was the son the late Kate and James Ley. Tom was employed for almost thirty years at National Sea Products, Louisbourg. He was an avid trapper and was happiest travelling through the woods throughout Cape Breton. For many years he also operated Ley Kennels, breeding Labrador Retrievers and Shih Tzu.
Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucille; one brother Pat (Sandra), Mulgrave and by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sisters, Mary (Jim) Price, Laura (Nathan) Kennedy, Kathleen (Joseph) Burke and brother Charlie (Alberta) Ley. He will be missed by his faithful friend, his Shih Tzu Rastas.
We would like to thank all the doctors and staff of the CBRH for their care and support during the last few months. There will be a memorial Funeral Mass held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-A-Dieu on Saturday, August 5, at 11am. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the parish cemetery or a charity of choice. To share memories and condolences please visit www.twcurry.com.
