32 – Eskasoni

Shane Kenneth Stevens, 32 of Eskasoni, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of Elizabeth Stevens of Eskasoni and Kenneth Marshall of Eskasoni.

He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni and was very devoted to the St. Anne missions. During high school, Shane was a player with the Eskasoni High School Coyotes hockey team during 1998- 1999. After high school, Shane loved to get on the ice as often as he could. He was always very generous with his time helping people and his friends with odd jobs, never expecting anything in return.

He is survived by his companion Flora Joe, a son Kendrick and a daughter Mary Katherine, all of Eskasoni. He is also survived by his first son, Sean Paul of Whycocomagh, by 3 brothers Scottie, Maine; Frank and Evan, both of Eskasoni; by 3 sisters Carolyn; Jillian (Lo’li); and Leah (Todd), all of Eskasoni; 2 nieces Tréslyn and Yvette; 5 nephews Lo’liji’j; Frank Jr. ; Todd Jr.; Roland and Noah and by his paternal grandfather Frank Marshall, Mass, and by numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation for the late Mr. Stevens will take place at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni after 7 pm on Thursday, October 18. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Rev. Joe Gillis officiating. Interment in Holy Family parish cemetery.
