It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Saturnino (Adorno) Funari on Monday, March 19th, 2018 at the age of 90. Adorno was the son of Enrico and Tricianne Funari from Italy, he came from a large family of 7 brothers and 3 sisters who also resided in Italy, most of them with families of their own, which made Adorno an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Adorno was also a loved father and Nonno (Grandfather), and he lived a long fulfilled life. Adorno came to Resereve Mines, Cape Breton, from a small Village in Italy in 1953, where he was reunited with his soon to be wife Julia. They adapted to the culture in Cape Breton, but Adorno had kept his Italian Mentality that lived on with him through out his life. He was a hard worker with strong family morals. His wife was his everything, as well as his 3 children, and providing for them was his proudest accomplishment. Adorno could often be found in his backyard in his garage in Reserve Mines where he could fix and build almost anything. He also kept a beautiful garden in his backyard that he and his wife Julia tended to everyday.
Adorno is survived by his two Sons, Eric (Isabel), Funari, and Francis (Patrica) Funari, and his son in law, Kenny MacArthur. He is predeceased by his wife Julia (Girolami) Funari, and his daughter, Christine (Funari) MacArthur. Adorno was also a Nonno to 4 grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Funari, Angela Funari, Meghan (Hank) Ford, and Bhreagh (Michael) Stinziani. Adorno also had two great grandchildren, Madison and Brooklyn Ford and another great grandchild to be born in July. We know he his welcomed into the arms of his Wife and Daughter, where he can finally rest in peace with them.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. “A life with love is a life that’s been lived.”
