Sara M Macneil

The family regrets to announce the passing of Mary ‘Sara’ MacNeil, 103, on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.

Born in Barra Glen, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late Stephen S. ‘Dunn’ and Catherine (MacNeil) MacNeil.

Sara was a former resident of Shenacadie and later moved to Sydney where she lived for many years and worked at Eastern Bakeries prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Barra parish, Christmas Island and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward ‘Eddy’ MacNeil, three brothers, Stephen J., Alex B., and Patrick in infancy; also four sisters, Mary Campbell, Catherine MacKinnon, Kitty MacDonald and Cassie MacKinnon.

Visitation will be held 9 am until the time of the funeral mass at 11 am, on Monday, December 2 at St. Barra Church, Christmas Island with Rev. Joe MacNeil officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Sara’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
