It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife mother and sister. Sal Bussey passed away peacefully February 4, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born November 14, 1946 in Little Lorraine, she was the daughter of John William Burke and the late Mary Margaret (Campbell) Burke. Sally was an outstanding wife, mother, sister and inspiration to all. She will be deeply missed by the love of her life David and husband of over 50 years, her daughter and best friend Barbara (James) MacDougall of Albert Bridge, devoted sons; David (Melinda) Bussey of Louisburg, and Shaun (Susan) Bussey of Mira. Nana will be missed by her wonderful grandchildren, Tyler, Karen, Brett, Karley, Desarae, Kolby and Oceanna. Sal was a faithful member of St. Joseph Mission Parish Albert Bridge. Sal was predeceased by her Mother Mary Burke, her sister Germaine Pink, 9 siblings in infancy, and Tom and Ethel Bussey (parents in law) She will also be greatly missed by her siblings, Linda (Johnny) MacDonald; Louisburg, Donna Burke; Louisburg, Loretta Maloney; Bedford, John (Joan) Burke; Fredericton, NB, Adrian (Marlene) Burke; Sydney River, Jacqueline (Stephen) Rafuse; Cole Harbour, Chris Burke; Truro and her many loved nieces, nephews and cherished aunts and uncles. Sal was known for her kind and gentle spirit but most of all her love and passion for her family. Sal led an active life, enjoying many activities such as swimming, cycling, walking, camp, kayaking, shopping and travel. She especially enjoyed the boat rides with family and friends on the Mira. Sal was employed by National Sea Products for several years and then Fleur De Lis Motel in Louisburg followed by a lobster fishing with loving husband Dave and son Shaun. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their attentive compassionate care during this difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Harless, Dr. Kian Khodadad, Amanda and Claudette at the Cape Breton Cancer Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday February 8th from 11 am -1 pm at Immaculate Conception Parish, Main-a-Dieu. Reverend Evo Di Pierro will be officiating the funeral mass at 1pm with a reception to follow. Interment will be at Brick Yard Road Cemetery at a future date. In keeping with Sal’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of TW Curry Parkview Chapel. Sal you were the most beautiful guiding light of our family circle. You played a big part in all our lives, and now that you are gone, our love for you will continue to go on and on.
