Raymond Derrick Nelson Bernard , 50 , was born May 5, 1972 to Annabelle (Bellin) Nicholas of We'koqmaq First Nation. Our Ray of Sunshine got his wings on October 22, 2022. He lived in Wagmatcook with his family at what Ray called the best time and place in his life, he referred to his purpose quite proudly as "Fatherhood at Home Made Nation". Ray was known for his humor and his happiest being a "Nation Builder". He was a father of eight children, seven of which were with his best friend and life partner Eunice (Toon) Googoo.
Fatherhood was his proudest accomplishment and often announced his pride and title as a "Stay at home dad". He found his life purpose and happiness. Ray was known for his sense of humor and laughter, giggles and laughs were in his daily life within his home, He shone his best light. He was surrounded with constant joy and happiness with the love of his family. He lived a very private life, his children kept him happy, joyful and well grounded. He will be greatly missed.
Raymond is survived by his children, Elijah Bernard, Presley, Jackson, Cash, Cherilyn, Taylor, Alanis,, his wife Eunice (Toon) Googoo, his Mother Annabelle (Bellin), his Siblings , Eva, Denise, Ella, Peter John, Joe, Enos, Noel jij, Laura, and Shawna Godfather Bill (Billyboy) Sylliboy of Millbrook.
He was predeceased by many loved ones including his step dad Joseph, Sister Bernice, Brother Darrell, his grandmother's Mary (Grammy B) Bernard , Ellen (Kiju) Googoo and his Godmother Carol Sylliboy.
Cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held at this time. A memorial service for Ray will be held on May 5th, 2023 - on his Birthday.
