Peter was the owner of the Pizza Den in Sydney River for 22 years, and was affectionately known as Pizza Pete. He met the love of his life Irene, in University. She brought him home to Cape Breton, where they began and raised their family. Pete was very proud of his four children, and all of their accomplishments, sharing in special traditions with each of them. He especially enjoyed seeing his 6 grandchildren. On his travels to places like Florida, Australia and New Zealand, Pete met wonderful people everywhere he went. Over the years, he volunteered his time to organizations like the YMCA, the Kinsmen, the Wisemen, and Beavers. He also loved his monthly poker games with his poker buddies. Pete will be deeply missed for his sense of humour and his love of life. Pete is survived by his loving wife Irene (MacDonald), his children; Suzanne (Ken) Miles, Michael (Sheri) Long, Stephen (Jill) Long, and Emily Long. His grandchildren; Christina, Sarah and Kaitlyn Miles, Mikie, Rhiannon and Xander Long. His sisters; Donna (Ronnie) Ward, Leona (Brian) Stead, Kathy Long, brothers; Tim (Karen) Long, and Leaman (Fern) Long, godchildren; Louis Digout and Shannon Long, and many nieces nephews and cousins. Pete is predeceased by his parents and his sister Sherry Gillespie.
