Born in Beaver Cove on October 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (MacMullin) Currie.
Peter was an Industrial Arts teacher for 32 years, and in his spare time, he could be found helping someone, building something, or planning his next fishing trip. His most enjoyable moments were with his fishing partners, Edwin Shepard, John O’Neil, his late buddies Bill Dobbin and brother Rannie.

He was predeceased by his brothers Michael, Donald and Rannie and his sister Mary Gardiner.
Peter was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, the Knights of Columbus, and their singing choir. He was an involved member of his community and could be relied on by all his friends when needed. He was an avid gardener and loved to share all he produced.
During his quick passing, he was helped by such wonderful staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
