Patricia Steele passed away peacefully the evening of June 24, 2020 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care after a decade-long battle with dementia. Born March 6, 1958, Patricia, the youngest of nine, was the daughter of Harold and Christina (Gillis) King, of Taylor St., in Whitney Pier. A Registered Nurse for over 30 years, Pat, or Trish, as she was known, worked at the old City Hospital, the Regional Hospital, and concluded her nursing career at the Eskasoni Health Centre. She took immense pride in her work - demonstrated by her desire to learn and her wholehearted dedication to the unique needs of every patient she encountered. Outside of work, Patricia saw the world in two seasons: hockey and camping. For more than a decade, Patricia was a season ticket holder with the Cape Breton Eagles, rarely missing a game. She would do her best to catch every road game on the radio, cheering loudly at home for every goal as if she was in the stands. For nearly 20 years, she enjoyed her summers as a seasonal camper perched at the top of the hill at the Baddeck Cabot Trail Campground. This undoubtedly became her home away from home, and something she looked forward to every year. Patricia is survived by her husband, Bernie; son, Kyle; brothers, Joe, Paul, Harold, Bob and Bernie, and her sister Joan. She was predeceased by her mother, Christina; father, Harold; sister Margie and brother, Reg. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at the TW Curry Parkview Chapel. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care for their exceptional care of Patricia during her time as a resident. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
