Born in Baddeck N.S she was the daughter of Beverly Bernard (Wagmatcook) and the late Peter Gould of We'koqma'q, mother-in-law Eva Bernard Sydney. Nancy is survived by the love of her life Thomas Bernard Sr. of Eskasoni. Thomas and Nancy have been together for 33yrs and married for 29yrs.
Nancy was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, Kiju, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was the mother of 3 sons Kyle Bernard (Matlen), Peter "Evan" Bernard, Thomas Bernard Jr (Rene) whom she was extremely proud of. Also left to mourn are Nancy’s sisters; Lisa Marshall, Annie Gould, Petula Gould, Joanne Cope, Chelsey Bernard and her brother William Gould. Nancy is predeceased by her sister Sharon Cope.
She was the loving grandmother to 9 grandchildren whom she adored dearly and always spoke of them with pride, a godmother to 3 and great aunt to many. Nancy enjoyed life and her passion and devotion was working with children. She was a Chef at the Membertou Day Care for 11yrs and dedicated her life to what she enjoyed and that was cooking and working with children. Nancy worked in many locations in Sydney as a chef and inspired some to pursue their career in the field. Nancy will always be remembered for her love, kindness and beauty. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, her sudden passing was a shock for all but Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
A visitation will be begin on Saturday, Sept 10th at 7pm, at the Gabriel Center in Eskasoni, and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Sept 12th at Holy Family Church at 10:30am. A salitè will follow the service. To leave memories and condolences please visit www.twcurry.com.
