Michael James Prestara, 85, of Sydney Forks, died peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, with his family at his side.

Born in Whitney Pier, he was the son of the late Joseph and Muriel (Petterson) Prestara.

Mickey worked for many years at the Sydney Steel Plant in the Open Hearth Dept. as a Ladleman and retiring as a foreman. He loved his children, grandchildren and was a wonderful caring father. He enjoyed working outdoors, fishing and especially tending his vegetable garden.

He is survived by his children Micker (Garth Purdy); Shelly (Milton Cooke); grandchildren Michelle (Shawn West); Michael (Vanessa Partridge); David (Nicole MacDonald); C.J. (Rachael MacDonald); great grandchildren Riley, Darcy, Sophie, Emily; brothers Tony, Jimmy (Joan), Joey (Louise) and sister Mary Corazza, ON.

He was predeceased by his wife Edith, sister Carol Ann,sister-in-law Amelia Prestara and brother-in-law, George Corazza.

There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Prestara. A funeral service will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Monday, Dec 3 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
