88 - Northside East Bay

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ann (Dunn) MacKinnon of Northside East Bay on Monday, June 8, 2015.

Mary was born November 9, 1926 in Benacadie, Cape Breton, the daughter of the late Alex J. and Mary Ann (Farrell) Dunn.

She is survived by her sons, Dan (Margaret), Sydney Forks, Joe (Donalda), Northside East Bay, John (Linda), Hillside Road Mira, Lawrence, Northside East Bay, and Tony, Toronto, daughters-in-law, Darlene (Campbell) MacKinnon and Ann (MacLean) MacKinnon, both of Sydney, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Theresa MacLennan, Westmount, and brother Joe (Kay), Ontario.

She was predeceased by her husband, Neil J., sons, Hector and Mike, siblings, Mike, Pat, Neil, Anthony, and Angus.

Visitation for Mary will be at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, 7-9 pm and Thursday, June 11, 2015, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, June 12 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff of the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) and An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital as well as the staff of the Cape Breton County Homemakers who brightened her day and made her stay at home more comfortable.
